Cast Iron Pipes
If you are noticing flakes in your water or your water is an orange, brown color you may have cast iron pipes. Although this is not really harmful to you in small amounts it will end up dying your bathtub and shower a really unpleasant dirty looking color and clog water filters really fast! To stop this, get your old cast iron pipes replaced with PVC.

"Toilet Paper" That Clogs
Most paper towels, baby wipes, and wet wipes clog your toilet even if the product says it can be flushed.
To keep the things that need to be flushed; flushable, don't flush ANYTHING other than toilet paper!

Keep An Eye On Your Waterheater
If you are noticing water pooling under your water heater or a great deal of rust developing on the surface it may be a good idea to get your water heater looked at before it becomes a more expensive problem!

Kids and Flushing Things
Kids are known for flushing...well everything down the toilet.
To prevent this, you can (or have a professional) install a lid lock. This will prevent you from having to shell out hundreds of dollars to have a plumber come and fish your child's plastic barbie dress or toy car out of your plumbing system.
